Description
Project Description: Old Mine Road is the primary north-south route on the New Jersey side of the park, providing the only access to major visitor facilities and attractions on the New Jersey side of the park, including campgrounds, picnic areas, boat and canoe launches, hiking trails, hunting/fishing access, and biking. The project portions of Old Mine Road are deteriorating and reducing stage access for motorist's bicyclists, and pedestrians. Surface treatment is required, as determined by the Federal Highway Administration and independent validation study. This project will meet the objectives of the Federal Highway Administration pavement model results to restore the pavement and extend the life of this roadway. It will also provide for safe driving conditions for the users of the park and to protect the original investment in roads and parking. Project Conditions: The project is located at the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Montague, Sussex County, NJ. Contract activities and logistics must be structured and scheduled to minimize visitor impact. The site requires protective measures to ensure the surrounding area remains undisturbed. The anticipated period of performance of 245 calendar days including any potential weather shutdown. Project Scope: The project will consist of pavement management and rehabilitation of roads and parking areas within Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. This work includes but is not limited to, pavement milling and removal, full depth replacement (FDR) of asphalt, full and partial depth repairs, asphalt construction, shoulder stabilization, swale reconstruction, underdrain, pavement markings, guardrail, gates, MUTCD sign installation, concrete placement, culvert replacement/replacement, headwall repair/replacement.
