Description
The Sources Sought notice is posted by the Government agency seeking possible sources for a project. This notice is not a solicitation for work or a request for proposal. The purpose of this notice is to identify interested and capable vendors to perform the work described below and to incorporate the results of this notice into the Government's Market Research Report. This Statement of Work (SOW) describes the Governments requirement for the design to replace the hangar doors at Buildings 1340 and 1362 at Eielson Air Force Base (AFB), AK. The hangar door at Building 1340 is currently inoperable. A survey was conducted to assess whether repairs without redesign were feasible, but it concluded that repair was out of scope. Therefore, this project is to develop a design and conduct a cost-benefit analysis to determine the best hangar door type and the manufacturer offering the lowest maintenance cost over the lifespan of the new door. Additionally, Eielson AFB is experiencing higher than normal maintenance costs and labor hours for all 32 vertical fabric doors manufactured by International Door Company in Building 1362, compared to nearby facilities using a different manufacturer. This project shall develop the design and cost estimate to convert these doors to systems manufactured by Megadoor. Building 1362: The A-E shall provide 100% design documents for the converting from the current door system to a Megadoor VLF. The design shall include: Installation of exterior generator hookups and required interior electrical upgrades to ensure the facility can be powered via generator during outages. Design of a catwalk system within the facilities mechanical room, allowing access to the HVAC system, which currently lacks accessible pathways. Building 1340: The A-E shall provide two 35% design COAs for the inoperable hangar door; one as a tip up door using a single counterweight system and the other as an external sliding door. Based on the selected option, the A-E shall deliver 100% design documents. The design shall include: Installation of 10 feet of glycol heat tracing in front of the hangar doors extending to the apron. Any necessary electrical or HVAC upgrades to accommodate the new door system. Site investigations, including two borings, to assess soil profiles and environmental contaminants required for the civil/structural design and glycol work. Respond to this notice by emailing the contract administrator Kimberly Graham at kimberly.graham.3@us.af.mil and the contracting officer SrA Christopher Prince at christopher.prince.3@us.af.mil stating your firm's interest inaccomplishing this effort.
