- Description
- On November 1, 2024, the DHS Mentor-Protg Program (MPP) was relaunched to better serve the needs of industry and align with DHS Mission in support of small businesses and HBCUs and MSIs. Whats New? While the revamp of the MPP was underway, we used the opportunity to make necessary updates based upon the codification of the DHS MPP. Codification of the MPP: Like the legacy MPP, the codified MPP is designed to motivate and encourage large business prime contractor firms to provide mutually beneficial developmental assistance to small business, veteran-owned small business, service-disabled veteran-owned small business, HUBZone small business, small disadvantaged business, and women-owned small business concerns. Inclusivity Expansion: All small businesses, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs), are now eligible to participate as protgs, fostering a more diverse environment for collaboration with the mentor and ultimately to DHS. Which Feature is the Same? The DHS MPP still encourages large businesses to assist and develop eligible protgs, thereby enhancing their capabilities leading to increased subcontracting and being more competitive for prime awards. It is also designed to: Improve the performance of contracts and subcontracts. Foster the establishment of long-term business relationships between large prime contractors, small business subcontractors, HBCU/MI partnerships. Strengthen subcontracting opportunities and accomplishments through incentives. How can I Participate? The application and basic steps necessary to establish a DHS Mentor-Protg Agreement are posted on the website. More details about the DHS MPP can also be found in the MPP Guide. If you have questions or require additional information, contact the MPP team at dhsmpp@hq.dhs.gov. Thank you for your continued support for the DHS MPP. We look forward to working together to achieve our shared vision of excellence. NOTE: Some sections under the website are still being developed and will be posted soon.
