Description
The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Engineering Research and Development Center-Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (ERDC-CERL) Heavy Equipment Autonomy team has a requirement to procure three (3) annual AGX Dynamics Pro software licenses, one (1) annual AGX Dynamics Runtime software license, and one (1) AGX Elastic software license. The requirement also includes a two (2) day online, instructor-led training on the use of AGX Dynamics for up to four (4) CERL personnel, and services for development of simulation-ready bulldozer models within the software that will be compatible with/ accessible throught the licenses stated above. ERDC-CERL intends to award a purchase order on a sole source basis to Algoryx Simulation AB in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). Algoryx Simulation AB is determined to be the only source capable of fulfilling the Governments requirement. Their AGX Dynamics software is uniquely capable of meeting the requirements, including ROS2 and Unreal Engine compatibility, physically realistic soil deformation, and dynamics needed for software-in-the-loop simulation. AGX Dynamics also supports advanced AI-model training and validation features, including tools for integration with AI-Gymnasium environments and HPC licenses. Market research confirmed AGX Dynamics as the only solution with the following capabilities: 1) Seamless Integration with ROS2 and Unreal Engine a) Unreal Engine Compatibility: AGX Dynamics integrates with Unreal Engine, allowing developers to leverage the high-fidelity visualizations and realistic environments of Unreal for AI training. This feature is crucial for developing and testing autonomous systems in simulated yet highly realistic scenarios. b) ROS2 Support: AGX Dynamics supports the Robot Operating System (ROS2), a key middleware for robotics. This ensures seamless communication and control between the simulation environment and AI systems, enabling software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing. 2) Comprehensive APIs for AI and Simulation Integration a) C++ and Python APIs: The simulation environment provides robust programming interfaces, which facilitate integration with AI frameworks and tools. Developers can quickly implement custom algorithms and workflows for model training and validation. b) AI-Gymnasium Tools: AGX Dynamics includes ready-made tools for integration with AI training environments, such as Gymnasium (formerly OpenAI Gym). This capability supports reinforcement learning workflows, essential for autonomous system development. 3) Advanced Modeling and Simulation Capabilities a) Real-Time Physics and Soil-Tool Interaction: AGX Dynamics offers accurate modeling of soil and granular interactions, which is vital for realistic simulation of construction and earthmoving equipment. These dynamics are critical for training AI models in tasks requiring precise interaction with physical environments. b) High-Performance Computing (HPC) Support: The systems ability to scale with HPC resources ensures that large-scale simulations, including those needed for complex AI training, can be conducted efficiently. 4) Training and Documentation: there is a wealth of documentation on how to use AGX online which includes getting started guides, user guides, tutorials, and a glossary. This is a notice of intent to sole source synopsis, not a solicitation or a request for competitive quotations. This is not a set-aside of any kind. Any interested party that believes they should be considered as capable of fulfilling this requirement should submit a capability statement of their related products or services to be reviewed for technical content. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete the contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government All submissions will be considered, however there is no guarantee that submissions in response to this notice will in any way alter the Governments acquisition strategy. Please provide responses to this notice no later than the time listed above in this notice, to: CERL-CT_Quotes@usace.army.mil. Telephone responses will not be accepted.
