- REMOVAL AND REMEDIATION OF BATS, BLDG. 1777 MARINE CORPS AIR STATION CHERRY POINT, NORTH CAROLINA 28533-0006 WORK ORDER #7571479 REGULAR WORKING HOURS The Governments regular working hours are from 0700 to 1600, Monday through Friday, except for Federal Holidays and other days specifically designated by the Contracting Office. The work must be completed prior to 1 May 2026 SCOPE OF WORK The intent of this project is to remove and remediate building 1777 of bats. The contractor shall provide all labor, supplies and equipment needed to complete this project. 2.1 Seal Secondary Entry Points The contractor shall seal all potential entry points cracks, gaps, or holes larger than a dime are sealed except for the primary exits identified during inspection. This prevents bats from finding an alternate way back in once the exclusion begins. Materials used include caulk, steel wool, wire mesh, and flashing. 2.2 Install One-Way Exclusion Devices One-way doors or exclusion netting are installed over the primary entry/exit points. These devices allow bats to leave the building to feed but prevent them from re-entering. Common devices include plastic netting, flexible tubes, or cones. 2.3 Monitoring Period The one-way doors are left in place for a minimum of 5-10 days to ensure all bats have successfully exited the roost. The duration may be extended during cool or rainy weather when bats are less active. 2.4 Final Sealing Once it is confirmed that all bats have vacated the building, the one-way devices are removed, and the final entry points are permanently sealed to complete the exclusion. 2.5 Hazardous Waste Removal Trained technicians wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respirators, will remove all bat guano, urine-soaked insulation, and nesting debris. To minimize airborne dust, materials are often wetted down with a surfactant or disinfectant before removal. 2.6 Sanitization and Deodorization All affected areas are treated with professional-grade disinfectants and enzymatic cleaners to neutralize harmful pathogens (like the fungus that causes histoplasmosis) and eliminate persistent odors. Prior to leaving site, contractor shall conduct site cleanup and return area to its original condition.
