- Description
- THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. The purpose of this notice is to obtain information regarding the availability and capability of all qualified sources to fulfil a potential requirement. The responses received from interested contractors will assist the Government in determining the appropriate acquisition method. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Network Contracting Office (NCO) 20, is conducting market research to identify potential sources for: Phacoemulsification Units for the Portland VAMC. The Phacoemulsification Units are brand name or equal to Phacoemulsification Units manufactured by Alcon Vision LLC. Supports compatibility with dual-blade or equivalent high efficiency cutters for close proximity retinal work. Maintains stable intraocular pressure (IOP) through real time pressure sensing with independent control of infusion and aspiration, accommodating the range of viscosities encountered in vitreoretinal surgery. Provides aspiration modes that allow transition between flow-based and vacuum-based aspiration to support both shave vitrectomy and posterior vitreous detachment techniques. Includes technology that detects aspiration occlusion or changes in viscosity and adjusts aspiration rate accordingly to enhance safety and efficiency, including during training scenarios. Offers RGB or equivalent multi channel LED illumination with tunable intensity and color profiles, along with independent control for multiple instruments. Provides illumination with customizable spectral output to reduce high wavelength exposure (blue/green) and align with aphakic hazard safety profiles. Supports compatibility with 27 gauge vitreoretinal instruments. Includes an internal 532 nm laser for retinal photocoagulation. Supports multi spot laser capability to reduce treatment time, offering selectable spot patterns such as 4 spot, 2 spot, and 1 spot. Provides an entry and infusion system designed to reduce trocar insertion force and allow efficient infusion, with compatibility for 3 mm, 4 mm, and 6 mm cannulas. Enables rapid setup and teardown, including single step priming and testing or equivalent, with minimal required VR connections. Cataract Surgery Capabilities (Minimum Requirements) Provides intelligent or dynamic fluidics that maintain chamber stability at physiologic IOP levels. Includes surge mitigation functionality using pressure sensing and automatic venting to reduce post occlusion surge. Includes a torsional or equivalent advanced phaco handpiece intended for efficient lens removal. Provides real time thermal sensing at or near the phaco tip with automatic power modulation to prevent corneal wound burns. Potential candidates having the capabilities necessary to provide the above stated requirement are invited to respond to this Request for Information via e-mail to Gregory Watson at Gregory,Watson2@va.gov no later than 20 April 2026, 06:00 PST. No telephone inquiries will be accepted. RESPONSES SHOULD INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION: company name, address, and business size; point of contact name, phone number, e-mail address. NAICS Code 339112 is applicable to determine business size standard. In addition please enclose the country of origin for any items not manufactured in the USA. Any questions or concerns may also be directed to Gregory Watson via e-mail.
