NETHERLANDS: FRUIT JUICE BASED SOFT DRINK CONCENTRATES The following notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.4. TBT/Notif. 94.482. 1. Party to agreement notifying: Netherlands. 2. Agency responsible: Ministry of Economic Affairs. 3. Notified under Article 2.5.2. 4. Products covered (HS or CCCN where applicable, otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers may be provided in addition, where applicable): Fruit juice based softdrink concentrates. 5. Title and number of pages of the notified document: Draft order and Implementation Order Concerning Quality Requirements for Fruit Juice Softdrink Concentrates 1994 (5 pages). 6. Description of content: The order and the associated implementation order establish quality criteria for fruit juice based softdrink concentrates produced in the Netherlands, with respect to, inter alia, fruit juice and sugar contents. 7. Objective and rationale: There are no European-level quality regulations pertaining to fruit juice based softdrink concentrates. The European Association of Juice Based Softdrinks Manufacturers (EASM) has in fact reached agreement on the quality regulation and categorization of juice based softdrinks. These are currently being implemented in law for juice based softdrinks produced in the Netherlands. It is expected that this will also happen in other EU countries (whether or not in legally enforceable form). 8.
