B -- SERVICES TO PERFORM RESEARCH AND PROVIDE DATA OF RESULTS OF EXPERIMENTS ON DRUG RESISTANT MYCOBACTERIUM TUBERCULOSIS Sol GWL95-P-0007 due 022895. Contact - Bliss Morris, 504-642-4707. Services of personnel to perform experiments and provide research data to eradicate the spread of drug resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The personnel will perform experiments in a Biosafety level 3 laboratory provided by the Government at Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The culture media including drug resistant tuberculosis will be provided by the Goverment. The personnel will include: Supervisor, Biological Technicians and a Postdoctoral Scientist. The supervisor shall have research experience with infectious diseases, specifically Class 3 Level pathogens transmittable to humans via the respiratory route. The supervisor shall have experience in drug evaluation process with infectious diseases and will ensure that the air handling system of the BL3 Lab is properly functioning. The supervisor shall have a minimum of 2 years experience in supervising Biological Technicians and Postdoctoral Scientists. The Biological Technicians shall each have at a minimum a BS in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or Pharmacy/Pharmacology or a related field. Additional experience is required for the various types and levels of research as indicated in the solicitation. The Postdoctoral Scientist shall have at a minimum a Ph.D in Microbiology, Immunology, Biochemistry or related field or have a DVM or MD and have at least 6 months experience working with pathogenic mycobacteria. Period of performance is the 12 month period beginning with the date of award with options to extend for two twelve month periods. The RFP will be issued O/A January 28, 1995.
