Rothe Development, Inc. is a prime contractor for Johnson Space Center (JSC), NASA. We require an automatic steady rest for a MAZAK Integrex 40 CNC Lathe. Steady rest controls must be integrated with the CNC of the Integrex 40 in order to cycle in sequence with other automatic functions for uninterrupted turning of long and complex work pieces. Thus, a part of this purchase will include providing the M-codes from Mazak to open and close the steady rest clamping mechanism. Steady rest is required to hydraulically clamp bar stock with a minimum diameter of 1.0'' (or smaller) and a maximum diameter of 8.0'' (or larger). Vendor is required to provide a sliding base which is to be manually clamped to the tailstock ways of the Integrex 40. The steady rest is to be mounted to the sliding base by means of a mounting bracket, also to be provided by the vendor. Steady rest should not interfere with the front guard of the machine. In the event this cannot be avoided, the vendor is required to modify the front guard to accommodate the steady rest. Steady rest must have the capability to be opened manually when the machine is in feed hold. Steady rest must not interfere with the crosslide of the machine. A single vendor, who will provide all materials, installation and integration of the steady rest with the MAZAK Integrex 40, is sought. Vendor must provide also the technical documentation which describes the steady rest installation and integrated operation with the machine. Also, a three year full service agreement, which includes the cost of all parts and labor, is required.
