The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD), China Lake, CA intends to contract for a continuation of research to grow and polish diamond domes on an other than full and open competition basis from Texas Instruments, PO Box 655012/MS55, Dallas, TX 75265. This contract will advance the work begun under a contract awarded to Texas Instruments based on their proposal to a Broad Agency Announcement. The contractor shall perform experimental work to increase the strength of chemical vapor deposited diamond without degrading its optical properties. Deposition and polishing processes developed under the previous contract shall be optimized to produce optically figured diamond domes. Specimens shall be subjected to numerous types of tests and the results of those tests documented. The period of performance for this procurement is expected to start in April 1995 and continue for 18 months.
