Subcontracting Officer (804)249-7060. Steel Plates. The Southeastern
Universities Research Association (SURA) has a prime contract with the
Department of Energy (DOE) for work in connection with the continuous
Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF). This project will consist
of several phases that will make up the total construction of two (2)
detector hut Shield Houses. These shield houses will be built atop two
High Resolution Spectrometers (HRS) approximately thirty feet above the
floor. The primary phase of this work is the forging (procurement) of
the heavy steel. This procurement will consist of approximately sixty
to seventy, three inch (3'') thick steel plates, totally approximately
400 tons of total material. The plates will range in size, with the
largest being ten (10) feet by thirty (30) feet. The forging of the
plates will also include weld prepping the ends and the cutting of
1-1/2 inch diameter holes for handling purposes. The weld preps and
hole locations will be detailed in a CEBAF provided technical
specifications. All plates will be identified with their perspective
drawing numbers for accounting purposes. The delivery (delivery
includes off loading of material to specified staging area) of this
material to CEBAF-Hall A, is expected by 1 June 1995. A complete CEBAF
drawing package and accompanying specifications will be provided by
CEBAF with the solicitation. CEBAF is seeking a vendor willing to enter
into a firm fixed price subcontract under the terms and conditions
approved by the Department of Energy for CEBAF's contract, with firm
delivery schedules and performance warranties. Successful offerors will
be required to have demonstrable corporate experience in successfully
manufacturing generically similar structural components and be willing
to enter into a subcontract arrangement as described above. Interested
