GS11P95EGD0009; RFP DUE DATE: March 13,1995, 3:30 PM, Local Time. The
General Services Administration (GSA), Public Buildings Service,
National Capital Region (NCR), is seeking firms who are interested in
providing quality elevator and escalator inspection services at various
Government-owned and leased buildings located within NCR. The firm will
be expected to provide the necessary inspections to ensure that the
elevators and escalators constructed foruse by the Federal Government
strictly comply with the building, han dicap and elevator safety codes
in effect. All inspectors must provide proof of certification by an
organization which has been accredited by the American Society of
Mechanical Engineers (AMSE). The elevator/escalator inspector will be
responsible for performing the field inspection work. The elevator/
escalator inspector will recommend the approval/rejection of materials
and workmanship, monitor safety provisions, generate list of defects
and omissions and inspection reports, maintaininspection logs and
records and provide certification of code compliance. The
elevator/escalator inspector will also conduct progress inspections,
final inspections, and follow-up inspections. Consideration for this
procurement will be limited tofirms or joint ventures with consultants
demonstrating cap ability to coordinate the required services in their
own active production offices located within the GSA, NCR. The
boundaries of the GSA, NCR consist of the District of Columbia;
Montgomery and Prince Georges Counties in Maryland; Arlington,
Fairfax,Prince William and Loudoun Counties in Virginia; and the Cities
of Alexandria, Falls Church, and Fairfax in Virginia. Firms having the
capabilities to perform the services described in this announcement
are required to submit a letter of interest andrequest a copy of the

and large business concerns. Along with submitting proposals for this
procurement, firms shall be required to submit an acceptable Small
Business and Small Disadvantaged Business Subcontracting Plan
inaccordance with Public Law 95-507. Small, small disadvantaged and
small women-owned businesses are encouraged to participate as prime
contractors or as members of joint ventures with other small
businesses. All interested large business firms arereminded that the
successful firm will be expected to place subcontracts to the maximum
practical extent with small, small disadvantaged and small women-owned
businesses as part oftheir ORIGINAL SUBMITTED teams, in accordance
