The National Guard Bureau seeks sources to provide a modular reconnaissance pod for carriage on F-16 C/D Blk 30 and/or F-15 A/B aircraft. The pod must be equipped with a reconnaissance electrical interface unit and must be capable of accepting discrete or digital commands to sensors, recording equipment, and data links installed in the pod. The pod should make maximum use of existing or planned aircraft wiring to control the pod hardware. The pod must provide for individual control and monitoring for a minimum of two sensors including power, mode selection, and camera status. The pod must be able to accept current inventory USAF wet film camera systems or planned electro-optical framing or scanning sensors in a forward, left and right oblique installation. The pod must be equipped with appropriate environmental controls to support the above sensors throughout the operating envelope. The pod must be capable of mounting on the centerline station of the F-16 and/or F-15 aircraft and must be certifiable to the full tactical envelope of the aircraft. This flight certification can be based on analysis or prior flight clearance, but should not require government flight testing. The pod must be available as a non developmental item (NDI) or commercial off the shelf (COTS). Production quantity of 26 pods must be available by 1 Oct 96.
