10 -- MULTI-ROLE ANTI-ARMOR ANTI-PERSONNEL WEAPON SYSTEM (MAAWS) DUE 021595 POC Paul Milenkowic Contracting Officer 201-724-5391. The U.S. Government is seeking information on potential candidate systems to satisfy a tri- service requirement for an anti-armor anti-personnel weapon system. Special Operations Forces (SOF) have identified a need for a multi-purpose, man-portable, line of sight, reloadable, salt water submersible, air jumpable, recoilless day/night anti-armor and anti- personnel system which includes a family of ammunition as required to provide armored vehicle denial and penetration, earth and timber bunker incapacitation, hardened facility penetration, personnel denial in open, defilade or soft/wood frame structures, soft target destruction, smoke and illumination capabilities. Munitions must provide a capability to engage targets at maximum ranges of 500 meters or greater. The System must be fireable from the standing, kneeling, sitting and prone positions. The system must include full caliber training ammunition and a subcaliber training system, and must interface with a MILES- Compatible training device. Use of training equipment must not require system modification. The system must be man portable by one individual, provide all-weather, day/night, line of sight target acquisition capability, and be placed into operation in less than 5 minutes. The system must be capable of being rigged for airborne and submersible operations without special containers, exclusive of sighting systems and munitions that can be prepared in accordance with existing service procedure. The system shall be sufficiently rigged to remain safe, operational and effective following exposure to the rigors normally associated with military operations, including air delivery and salt water submersion. The weapon must not exceed an overall fixed length of 43 inches and weight of 25 pounds, with individual complete munition weight not to exceed 10 pounds. The weapon must provide a service life of 500 rounds minimum. The system must be fully developed, tested and fielded with immediate production capability. All items must meet U.S. safety and performance requirements. In response to this survey, information shall be provided on the following areas and topics. Additional information and topics are also encouraged. All responses to this survey must be in the English language. System Design maturity: Information shall be provided that shows that the system is fully developed. It shall include information on the life cycle design accomplishments and a summary of the qualification and certification tests conducted to validate the design. Details should be given on countries fielded, availability of manuals, spare parts and training aids, airborne operations experience and availability of both the weapon and ammunition items. Performance Characteristics: Information shall be provided which provides the steps necessary for a soldier to transport, prepare to fire, aim and fire the weapon. Performance information shall be provided describing system recoil, muzzle velocities, times of flight, blast overpressure levels, effective ranges and lethalities as applicable for the weapon and each ammunition type. Physical Characteristics: Information shall be provided on weapon length, weight, and tactical operating position. Information shall also be provided on ammunition length, weight, caliber, service life, ballistic characteristics, fuze descriptions, effective range and storage life. Information and suitability and durability for military use shall also be provided, including a summary of tests conducted to date. Safety Characteristics: Information shall be provided on the system safety design features and associated testing conducted to verify compliance with military health and safety requirements. Industrial Preparedness: Information shall be provided on near term availability of all weapon and ammunition items, including a summary of facilities and tooling available to support production. This notice is a market survey to seek and identify potential sources for the MAAWS system. Currently NO solicitation is available. Companies possessing a system that meets or exceeds the above described requirements are invited to submit documentation clearly showing how the proposed system meets those requirements. It is requested that the information be submitted to the above addressee no later than 15 Feb 95. System must be currently in production to be considered. (0027)
