Greensboro, NC 27498-1103 C -- DESIGN OF FIVE (5) REPAIR AND ALTERATIONS PROJECTS AT VARIOUS
POSTAL FACILITIES IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA Due 032895. Contact Arthur
Perrone, Project Manager, (910) 665-2820. The US Postal Service
requires Architect/Engineer services to design and support the
construction of five (5) repair and alterations projects in the
Northern Virginia area. The projcts are located at: Annandale VA,
Vienna VA, Sterling VA, West McLean VA and West Springfield VA. The
scopes of work will primarily include building expansion and lobby
alterations. Additional work items will vary by facility and may
include parking lot alterations, miscellaneous interior alterations,
miscellaneous mechanical and electrical alterations and painting. The
project consists of design, preparation of plans, specifications and
contract documents. The estimated individual project cost will vary
from $350,000 to $800,000. The facilities are owned by the US Postal
Service. The following additional servies will be included in the
proposed contract as optional services: Proposal Administration,
Construction Surveillance, Submittal Review, Materials Testing,
preparation of As-built drawings and other related services during
design and/or construction. Experience in similar projects is highly
desirable as is recent project experience with the National Capital
Planning Commission and within Fairfax and Loudoun Counties. At the
discretion of the Contracting Officer, one or more contracts may be
awarded. Firms that have the qualifications to perform the services
described are invited to submit a completed SF 255,
``Architect-Engineer and Related Services Questionnaire for Specific
Project'', and a completed SF 254 ``Architect/Engineer and Related
Services Questionnaire.'' They must also submit a completed SF 254 for
each of its proposed consultants. The submittal must be forwarded to
the office shown above and received by March 28, 1995. The selection
will be based on information contained within both the submited SF 255
and the submitted SF 254's. Interested firms with more than one office
must indicate on their SF 255 the staffing composition of the office in
which the majority of the work will be performed. The staffing
information must be stated in a clear and unambiguous manner.
Consideration will be given to firms responding to this advertisement
in accordance with the instruction in the following order of
preference: 1) Within the counties of FAIRFAX, LOUDOUN and PRINCE
WILLIAM VA; 2) Within Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC but not
more than 40 miles from VIENNA VA; 3) All other firms within Virginia,
Maryland and Washington DC. Architectural and engineering firms will
be considerd as local only if their sole office is in the local
geographical area or they have a local branch office and all of the
architectural design, coordination, and management of the project will
be performed in that office. There is no restriction of the
geogrphical location of consultants. The minimum acceptable
professional complement of the prime firm is 2 architects. The contract
contains a requirement for firms to provide evidence of current
insurance in the amount of not less than $200,000 of errors and
omissions per claim. Participation of Minority-Owned Businesses is a
consideration in US Postal Service architect-engineer selections. It is
prohibited to pay any fee, commission, percentage or brokerage fee to
any person or firm contingent upon or resulting from, award of a
contractor for this project. No other notification for this project
will be made. Submissions will not be retained or returned. This is not
