70 -- RF DATA COLLECTION SYSTEM SOL RFQ JM-BAR-02 POC Jeff Marshall, LSO-360, Kennedy Space Center, FL 32899. Lockheed Space Operations Company (LSOC), a NASA Prime Contractor at Kennedy Space Center, FL (KSC), seeks sources capable of supplying a spread spectrum RF data collection system consisting of a minimum of 30 barcode collection devices interfacing with an IBM mainframe via radio frequency. The system is required to support the majority of operational areas of KSC. The following criteria are essential: (1) Radio Frequency data transmission, (2) Spread spectrum technology, (3) Maximum bandwidth 3Mhz, (4) Maximum radio/transmitter power 1 watt, (5) Capability of supporting geographical expansion utilizing non-hardwired repeaters which operate on standard electrical power (e.g., 110 to 125 volts, 60Hz AC), (6) Provide 100% compatibility with existing barcode collection devices (Intermec 9440 series Trakkers programmed in IRL and Intermec 4400 series barcode printers), with ability to interface these units into the R/F system at a future date, (7) Must be 100% compatible with existing IBM PS/2 computers running OS/2 2.1, (8) Provide intelligent hand-held data collection devices with the following features (a) Built-in laser barcode scanning function, (b) Built-in R/F module, (c) Ability to support both DOS and IRL applications and (d) Ability to utilize PCMCIA memory and communication cards, (9) Compatible to and directly interface with the following OS/2 2.1 platform enablers: (a) CM/2v1.1 or greater, (b) DB2/2v2.1 and DDCS/2 1.1 or greater, and (c) Oracle 7 (SQLNET), (10) System software must be compatible to and directly communicate with itself running on multiple workstations and with other application programs executing on OS/2, AIX, and IBM Host systems supporting the following network transport protocols: (a) APPC/APPN (LU6.2), (b) TCP/IP (sockets), and (c) LAN Server (named pipes), (11) Provide generalized transaction messaging and routing with full integrity and journalization for message redelivery in the event of system/subsystem failure, (12) Provide data edit validation (legal value) testing of some or all, as required, defined data components within the transaction message. This capability shall be a part of the data collection management system and not require application development in order to implement it. Formal solicitation is contingent upon availability of funds and this synopsis does not commit LSOC to issue a solicitation nor make an award. When issued, solicitation will require the successful offeror to provide local maintenance support, installation and setup of all system hardware, and on-site training and programming support. Prospective subcontractor must provide demonstration of system functionality as required to prove system capabilities. Hardware and off-the-shelf software delivery requirements are within 30 days after receipt of order, with system installation, software development and training to begin no later than 40 days after receipt of order. Submit capabilities, in duplicate, to reach LSOC by 022195. Address Lockheed Space Operations Company, P. O. Box 21166, Kennedy Space Center, FL 32815, Attn: Jeff Marshall, Mail Code LSO-360. Questions may be directed to FAX (407) 867-7068. (0032)
