U -- DIRECTOR OF COURSES POC Contact Point, George Wilcox, 202-619-6694 The U.S. Information Agency (USIA) is accepting applications for possible openings in Director of Courses (DOC) positions with the Direct English Teaching Programs (DETP) of its various affiliated Amercian language Institutes in Africa and the Middle East. The DOC's responsibilities include all aspects of administering the Direct English Teaching program - employing, training and supervising teachers and staff, developing curriculum, setting up procedures and schedules, cooperating and liaising with local academic and government institutions, paying salaries and maintaining financial records, and writing reports. The DOC should have a solid grasp of budgeting and accounting principles necessary to run a moderate sized financial operation and fulfill agency guidelines on reporting and controls. Qualifications: M.A. in ESL/EFL or Applied Linguistics, extensive ESL/EFL teaching experience, supervisory and administrative experience, and overseas experience, preferably in an Arab and /or African culture. The contract year generally runs from October 1 of any given year through September 30 of the following year and contracts are usually renewable for additional years.
