(NIH) in Bethesda, MD intends to place an order against a GSA
Non-Mandatory ADP Schedule Contract (GS00K95AGS5674) with Digital

20785, for ADP hardware and software. Any response must be received in
writing within 15 calendar days from the published date of this
notice, reference QEF50069. The ADP hardware and accessories consists

AlphaServer 2100 4/275 OSF/1 System Add-In CPU for SMP Operation: 275
MHz Alpha CPU, 4 Mbyte cache memory. Software includes: SMP extension
license for OSF/1. Due to the nature of the 3D programs used, NIH
requires a high-end Unix server system that (a) possesses a RAM of no
less than 128 Mbyte, (b) can handle large hard disks and files over 4
Gbyte, (c) is based on powerful processors that are about equally fast
both for floating-point and integer operations, which means that both
the SPECft92 and the SPECint92 ratings per processor must be at least
200 or higher. This is a Notification of Intent in accordance with
FIRMR 201.39.501-3 (f) to acquire ADPE from an existing ADPE schedule
Contractor, no Contractor award will be made on the basis of any
responses to this notice since the synopsis of intent to place an order
against a schedule Contractor shall not be considered a solicitation
document. No solicitation document exists, therefore requests for such
documents will be considered invalid responses. Written responses
shall include GSA Contractor information if applicable and if not
provide sufficient pricing information for the requested item number as
listed in this synopsis to permit comparison with Digital Equipment
Corp., current GSA Schedule Contract. Oral communication is not
acceptable and will not be honored. A statement specifically
identifying the hardware to be provided and clearly stating the ability
to meet the specific requirements shall be submitted. Concerns that
respond to this notice shall furnish concise responses directed
specifically to the requirement mentioned above. Sources demonstrating
the capability to accomplish the above shall supply pertinent
information in sufficient detail to demonstrate their ability to
perform. Written responses shall also include complete pricing
information and a complete description of the hardware to be provided,
containing sufficient technical information to permit agency analysis
to establish a bonafide capability to meet the stated requirements as
listed above. Response will be evaluated according to who can meet the
requirements at the most favorable terms to the Government, considering
the lowest overall cost alternative, not necessarily at lowest price.
Adequate detailed data by which to evaluate capability should be sent
to Attn.:Shirl Brinson, at the point of contact listed above. All
responses from responsible sources will be fully considered. As a
result of analyzing responses to this synopsis of intent, the
contracting officer may determine that a solicitation will be issued.
If a solicitation is issued, no additional synopsis will be published.
Any such solicitation will be issued to the intended schedule vendor
and all firms that respond to this synopsis of intent or otherwise
request a copy of the solicitation. If no written responses are
received that demonstrate a lower overall cost alternative to the
Government is available, a delivery order will be placed against the
