Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate on a
sole source basis with Leco Corporation, Warrendale, Pennsylvania, for
a Part Number 866-100-500 Leco-Olympus PMG-3 Inverted Stage, Incident
Light, Bench Model Metallograph, including the following: Stand, stage,
illuminator, nosepiece, objectives, interference contrast prisms,
polarized light, sensitive tint, eyepieces, large format camera,
automatic exposure control, and reticles. Also includes installation,
start-up and on-site training-- F.O.B. Destination, Gaithersburg,
Maryland--Required Delivery Time - 60 days--This is a sole source
requirement because the equipment is required to be compatible with an
existing Leco high resolution video imaging system. Also, our research
requires us to use an inverted microscope which has a continuous and
calibrated zoom capability in conjunction with the reticle for each of
the objectives. To our knowledge, the Leco Olympus PMG3 is the only
brand of inverted microscope that has a calibrated continuous zoom
