COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 15,1995 PSA#1303NASA, George C. Marshall Space Flight Center, Procurement Office,
Marshall Space Flight Center, AL 35812 66 -- VACUUM FEEDTHROUGH RECEPTACLES AND PLUGS SOL 8-W-5-06-84776 POC
Contact Patricia Fundum, GP26-V, 205-544-8436/Contract Specialist, or
Jane Maples, GP26/Contracting Officer NASA/MSFC plans to issue a
Request for Offer (RFO) for Ceramaseal Vacuum Feedthrough Receptacles
and Plugs -- This procurement is being conducted under the NASA/MSFC
MidRange Pilot Test Program approved by the Office of Federal
Procurement Policy on April 16, 1993 -- NOTE: The proposed contract is
planned for other than full and open competition with Ceramaseal, 127
Hatters Lane, Simpsonville, SC 29681 -- ITEM 1: Ceramaseal part number
10769-01-A, Quantity 10 ea., Type T thermocouple feedthrough receptacle
designed for use on a vacuum chamber, capable of mating with a moisture
resistant air side plug and a vacuum compatible plug. When connected to
the air side plug the assembly must provide a moisture seal at their
interface using a knife edge design. It must have 37 pins to provide 18
thermocouple pairs (18 copper pins and 18 constantan pins) and one
spare pin for grounding. It must fit a 1.31 inch diameter hole. It must
have a viton o-ring for the vacuum seal and be capable of withstanding
welding for higher vacuum capability requirements and pressure
requirements to 1000 psig. It must fit into a flange plate .42 inches
thick. It must have conductor isolation up to 600 volts and be able to
conduct 7.5 amps on each pin. The vacuum leak rate of helium must not
exceed 1 x 10-9 atmosphere cubic centimeters per second (atm cc/sec).
The operating temperature range of the feedthrough receptacle must
have a low extreme of -200oC and a high extreme of +200oC. The sealing
dielectric material is to be ceramic or glass-ceramic bonded to
stainless steel, and the minimum sealing process temperature must be
greater than 550oC (to achieve high vacuum, welding, and pressure
capability). The exposed pin length beyond the insulating material is
to be no more than 0.5 inch to maintain support. The external housing
is to be made from 304 stainless steel for corrosion resistance. Plug
attachment is to be a push-pull engagement mechanism. The feedthrough
receptacle also must be able to accept Deutch 37 pin plugs. -- ITEM 2:
Ceramaseal part number 10769-11-A, Quantity 5 ea., Type T thermocouple
feedthrough assembly (including receptacle with air side & vacuum side
plugs and 40 gold plated copper contacts and 40 gold plated constantan
contacts and a contact insertion and removal tool) designed for use on
a vacuum chamber. The air side plug must have an insert that surrounds
the connecting wires when inserted in the plug to provide a moisture
resistant seal when assembled. It must also provide a moisture seal
when connected to the receptacle at their interface using a knife edge
design. The air side plug insulator mating face, back face, and the
moisture resistant grommet back face shall be numbered for ease of wire
assembly. The vacuum side plug materials must be compatible with high
vacuum systems. The vacuum plug insulator mating face and back face
shall be numbered for ease of wire assembly. Both plugs must provide a
wire bundle strain relief clamp to hold wires securely. Both plugs
must use rear release type contacts. It must have 37 pins to provide 18
thermocouple pairs (18 copper pins and 18 constantan pins) and one
spare pin for grounding. It must fit a 1.31 inch diameter hold. It must
have a viton o-ring for the vacuum seal, and be capable of withstanding
welding for higher vacuum capability requirements and pressure
requirements to 1000 psig. It must fit onto a flange plate .42 inches
thick. It must have conductor isolation up to 600 volts and be able to
