703-406-5461. LAUNCH COMMERCIAL OPPORTUNITY FOR SMALL SPACE EXPERIMENTS
OFFERED BY PRIVATE INDUSTRY. POC Orbital Sciences Corporation (OSC)
Cary Pao Telephone: 703/406-5227. NASA has contracted with Orbital
Sciences Corporation (OSC) under Contract No. NAS5-32839 to LAUNCH 2
firm and 8 optional small SPACECRAFT as primary payloads using the
Pegasus air LAUNCH vehicle under the Ultralight Expendable Launch
Vehicle (UELV) contract. Excess LAUNCH capacity exists on two of these
flights; moreover NASA has specifically authorized multiple
manifesting of small class SPACECRAFT as independent secondary
PAYLOAD(S) and has vested OSC with the responsibility for management of
unused LAUNCH vehicle capability. This excess capacity can be obtained
either as a NASA sponsored secondary MISSION or directly procured from
OSC as a Commercial mission. OSC invites organizations with potential
secondary PAYLOADS to indicate their interest in co-manifested LAUNCH
services on current or future launches. The following flight
opportunities (Ultralight and Commercial) exist for secondary PAYLOAD
manifesting: Mission A: Launch Date: 1st Half 1996, Orbit: 600 km @
28.5-40i, Mass: 150 kg, Volume: 7'' length x 40'' diameter. Mission B:
Launch Date: 1st Half 1996, Orbit: 750 km @ 25i, Mass: 200 kg, Volume:
45'' length x 46'' diameter. Mission C: Launch Date: 1st Half 1997,
Orbit: 550 km @ 97.3i, Mass: 160 kg, Volume: 33'' length x 46''
diameter. Mission D: Launch Date: 1st Half 1997, Orbit: 550 km @ 97.3i,
Mass: 140 kg, Volume: 33'' length x 46'' diameter. The shared MISSION
process is intended to maximize available LAUNCH opportunities for
small (Ultralight & New Millennium Class) PAYLOADS to obtain earth and
space science/data, flight experimentation, and technology validation.
These secondary PAYLOADS can either be attached or deployed with
payload unique or OSC standard interfaces. In your reply, please
indicate the mass, dimensions, target orbit, desired launch date, free
flyer or attached, and status of your PAYLOAD. Inquiries will be
screened and evaluated for compatibility with the primary mission. For
those candidates that appear to be viable for co-manifesting, further
technical and cost information will be exchanged leading to LAUNCH
commitments. The following commercial payload opportunity also exist on
the OSC Taurus launch vehicle for 1st half 1997, 775km@45 inclination,
640kg, 65'' length x 55'' diameter. Please contact Mr. Cary Pao, OSC
Launch Systems Group, Voice: 703/406-5227, FAX: 703/406-5461, or Email:
cpao@orbital.com, at 21700 Atlantic Blvd., Dulles, VA 20166. It is
intended that definitive launch agreements be reached no later than 12
months or more prior to the scheduled launch. Notice: This is not a
Government Solicitation. Any contract negotiated for launch of a
secondary payload will be between OSC and the organization providing
that payload. Reply by May 31, 1995. (075) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0219 19950317\18-0001.SOL)
