70 -- AUTOMATED LASER THREAD MEASUREMENT SYSTEM POC Ann Nelson. Contract Specialist, OP-ESO-A, 407-867-3406 Barton Scott, Contracting Officer. NASA, John F. Kennedy Space Center (KSC), Florida is contemplating the acquisition of an automated laser thread measurement system manufactured by Aperion, Inc. The system must be capable of measuring both internal and external threads. The system shall be fully automated with a measuring range of 0.01 - 8 inches, with length accuracy to less than 10 microinches and angle accuracy of less than 1 arc minute. Setup fixtures, as well as software shall be provided to aid in the calibration of cylindrical ring and plug gages, cylindrical ring and plug segments, thread ring and plug gages, and thread ring and plug segments. Operating and maintenance manuals including schematics and specifications for the system and components are required. The contractor shall provide on-site (at Kennedy Space Center) system installation and training. An initial calibration certificate with NIST traceability shall be provided. The system shall meet accuracy requirements based on a 4:1 accuracy ratio over the specified tolerance zone on Controlled Radius Root and W tolerance thread gages. It is intended that this procurement be conducted under the NASA Midrange Pilot Test Program approved by the Office of Federal Procurement Policy on April 15, 1993. All interested firms are invited to submit a written response, including a description of technical qualifications, to this notice which shall be considered by the agency. This notice is not a request for offers, however, all information received in response to this notice will be considered by the Government for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement to satisfy this requirement.
