The Bureau of Census (BOC) intends to solicit and negotiate with
Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), 6406 Ivy Lane, Greenbelt, MD
20770, for maintenance support services for the following software:
OpenVMS, Application Control Management System (ACMS) full development,
remote, and run-time, ADA, BASIC, C, COBOL, FORTRAN, PASCAL, Cartridge
Server Software, DecDecision, DecScheduler, Datatrieve, DW-MOTIF, FMS,
DecForms full development and run-time, LOTUS, RMS Journaling, SLS,
SLS-ACS, and SLS Remote, TDMS full development and run-time, TSM,
VaxCluster Software, DecSet Tools, Volume Shadowing, LSE, PolyCenter
System Census, PolyCenter Performance Advisor, and PolyCenter
Performance Collector. This software resides on a family of Vax
computers using the Open/VMS operating system located at BOC facilities
in Suitland, Maryland, Charlotte, North Carolina, Jeffersonville,
Indiana, and at remote field offices located throughout the United
States. The period of performance is for one year with four one-year
options. Services shall include software and documentation upgrades
supplied on electronic media to the BOC headquarters in Suitland,
Maryland, and 24 hour per day, 7 day per week access to a telephone
support center for technical assistance for any and/or all software
maintained on any cpu owned by the BOC. This support shall include
voice support between the telephone support center and any authorized
BOC employee at any BOC location, as well as access to any available
electronic technical support services. An on-site software support
specialist who possesses in-depth technical knowledge of DEC's
proprietary operating systems and software may also be procured at the
option of the government. Maintenance support services as defined
above may also be acquired for a subset of this product list under the
OpenVMS/AXP operating system in the future. It is anticipated that all
required maintenance and software support may be acquired for any
and/or all present and future software residing in Government owned
equipment throughout the life of this contract. This is not a formal
solicitation. Concerns that respond must furnish sufficient technical
information which demonstrates their ability to meet this requirement.
This information will be considered only if clear and convincing
evidence, including technical and pricing data is provided, that
interested sources can meet the requirements of the government, and
that it is advantageous for the government to consider such sources.
Detailed capabilities must be submitted to the above referenced address
(Attn: Patti Becker) within 45 days of the date of this notice. If no
written responses containing the above listed information are received,
a contract will be negotiated with DEC. No telephone requests will be
