805/486-8881, FAX 805/486-2886. The Navy Physical Security Equipment
Manual (``Manual'') provides military security managers with a
reference document they can use as an overview and guide to the proper
selection and use of security equipment. The Manual primarily covers
mechanical and electromechanical physical security
components-off-the-shelf (COTS). Each section (grouping of similar
physical security equipment) in the Manual provides: (1) A functional
description of the type of equipment, (2) A selection and ordering
guide, and (3) Installation and service information for those items of
equipment. A listing of known manufacturers/distributors of physical
security COTS of each equipment group is included in the Manual as an
appendix. The primary items of physical security equipment that will be
addressed in the revised Manual are: Metal and explosives detectors,
access control equipment, electric strikes, exit devices, emergency
exit hardware, security hinges, hinge-side protection hardware, sliding
door locks, GSA approved vault doors and modular vault systems, GSA
approved security containers (Class 5, 6, & 7), media (data) safes,
burglary resistant safes, gun/weapons safes, weapon containers, ISO
containers, fire-resistant safes, combination locks, low- &
high-security hasps, low- & high-security padlocks, mortise locks,
key-in-locks, rim locks, drop-bolt locks, dead-bolt locks,
interchangeable-core locks, magnetic locks, unit locks, office
equipment locks, cam/cabinet locks, weapon racks, security chain,
key-control software, key-control boxes, security seals, security
consoles, information & emergency destruction equipment. Intrusion
Detection Systems (IDS) and IDS sensors will not be addressed in the
revised Manual. Other physical security items submitted for inclusion
in the Manual will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Manufacturers/distributors of physical security equipment listed above
are invited to submit product information for possible inclusion in
the Manual. Information concerning the use and installation of
manufacturer's equipment is required for inclusion of commercial
physical security equipment in the Manual. Specific information
submitted must include, but not be limited to: (1) Type and application
of submitted products/equipment (annotate products which are sold under
the Federal Supply Schedule), (2) Manufacturer's/distributor's name,
address, and POC along with their ``800'', local, and FAX phone
numbers, (3) Any special capabilities needed/desired for installation
and/or use of your components or equipment. Send information for
