The purpose of the water-quality monitoring program is to obtain baseline water-quality data at the Yucca Mountain site to support preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement for a potential high-level nuclear-waste repository at Yucca Mountain and to detect potentially adverse impacts on ground-water quality at the site resulting from site- characterization activities presently being conducted at the site.
