notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6.
G/TBT/Notif. 95.166. 1. Member to Agreement notifying: EUROPEAN
COMMUNITY. If applicable, name of local government involved (Articles
3.2 and 7.2). 2. Agency responsible: European Commission. 3. Notified
under Article 2.9.2. 4. Products covered (HS or CCCN where applicable,
otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers may be provided in
addition, where applicable). All dangerous goods as listed in the
Regulations concerning the international carriage of dangerous goods by
rail (RID)(1995) packaging, tanks, receptables and wagons for the
transport of dangerous goods by rail. 5. Title and number of pages of
the notified document: Proposal for a Council Directive on the
Approximation of the Laws of Member States with Regard to the Transport
of Dangerous Goods by Rail (5 plus Annex of 1,000 pages). 6.
Description of content: Proposal to harmonize national technical rules
on the transport of dangerous goods with regard to, for example,
classification, packaging and labelling of dangerous goods, technical
requirements for tanks, etc. 7. Objective and rationale: To ensure a
uniform application of rules for the safe transport of dangerous goods
by rail throughout the Community, by extending the international rules
additionally to national transport. 8. Relevant documents: EC Official
Journal C389 of 31 December 1994, page 15; Regulations concerning the
International Carriage of Goods by Rail (RID)(1995). 9. Proposed date
of adoption and entry into force: Adoption: December 1995; Entry into
force: 1 January 1997. 10. Final date for comments: 31 July 1995. 11.
