The U.S. Army Natick, Research, Development & Engineering Center is
seeking materials suppliers and/or molders of reinforced injection
moldable polymers. Alternate materials and processes are sought for the
fabrication of personal ballistic (fragmentation) protective items such
as helmets, faceshields, etc. It is anticipated that injection moldable
products would allow the fabrication of ballistic resistant
(fragmentation) items having complex shapes and undercuts not
achievable with traditional compression molding processes. Materials
being sought are fiber-loaded injection moldable compounds having high
impact resistance, high tensile strength, and high flexural modulus
leading to ballistic protective candidate items. This is a request for
product and technical information only. The information is requested
within 45 days following the publication of this synopsis. This is not
a request for proposals. No solicitation document is available.(0172) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0010 19950622\B-0001.SOL)
