Officer: Ruth Ann Maris The National Institute of Standards and
Technology (NIST) has a requirement for finite element pre- and
post-processing software with built-in solid modeler and an integrated
interface to NIST flow modeling software. A software package and
services are sought which enables the interfacing of an existing
user-developed finite element flow modeling program with pre- and
post-processing software which generates finite element meshes and
displays finite element results. The software package to be acquired
shall be an existing, interactive color graphics program for aiding
finite element analysis being carried out on Silicon Graphics and other
Unix/X/Motif based systems. The software shall provide mouse-driven
rotation, pan and zoom of geometry, mesh and results models, with
hidden line removal and the option of either flat or light shaded
viewing. The software shall provide the ability to all custom
interfaces to the existing package for interfacing with independent,
user-developed finite element simulations. The pre-processing software
shall provide: tools for advanced CAD geometry construction and
manipulation; the ability to generate 1-D, 2-D and 3-D, finite element
meshes from geometry data (auto-generation tools a plus); built in
mesh optimization tools (e.g., node and element renumbering);
read/write of common ''neutral'' CAD/CAE files formats which can be
used as input into an independent, user-developed finite element code.
Minimum requirements are for IGES geometry data, and NASTRAN finite
element mesh and connectivity data. The post-processing software shall
provide: display of steady and unsteady 2-D and 3-D field variable
contour data (2-D color band and level lines, 3-D iso-surfaces) with a
geometry sectioning option (for 3-D results), and auto-stepping
through multi-time step contour data (animation); 2-D graphing/plot
capabilities; the capability of displaying results from an independent,
user developed finite element code through the use of neutral files.
With the software, the vendor shall also provide an initial interface
for interactive, graphical setting of material properties, fluid
properties, and boundary conditions, and all other relevant information
necessary to complete a simulation using an existing user-developed
finite element flow modeling program along with the capability to
launch and monitor the flow simulation, and view results when complete.
The initial interface should also be user-customizable so that
different properties, parameters, etc. can be added as the software
changes-- F.O.B. Destination, Gaithersburg, Md--Required Delivery
Time-- 45 days for delivery of software, 7 months for total
integration. Evaluation Factors shall include the degree to which the
proposal meets the specification, experience and capability, and
Delivery Schedule and Product Quality--All responsible sources may
submit a proposal which shall be considered by the agency--Please
request copies of the solicitation in writing--Fax Number (301)
