COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 6,1995 PSA#1382U.S. Geological Survey, Branch of Procurement and Contracts, 345
Middlefield Road, Mail Stop 285, Menlo Park, California 94025 66 -- INDUCTIVELY COUPLED PLASMA-MASS SPECTROMETER SOL RFP 2078 DUE
082595 POC Contact point Phyllis Yates, Contracting Officer,
415/329-4163, FAX 415/329-5480 The USGS, Water Resources Division,
Menlo Park, California, requires an inductively coupled plasma-mass
spectrometer (ICP-MS) system. ICP-MS must be fully computer controlled
and include all hardware and software required for determination of
all ions having mass to charge ratio from 1 to 269 atomic mass units,
on microliter as well as normal aliquots, and on a variety of samples
generated from field and laboratory investigations including extremely
dilute rain and snow samples, brines, acid leaches and solid
materials. Capable of analyzing for trace determinations of transition
and rare earth elements, actinide and lanthinide groups of elements,
and precise isotope ratios for tracer, geochemical and biogeochemical
investigations. The ICP-MS system must include the following items: (1)
Sample introduction system for water and slurries; (2) Radio frequency
plasma ion source; (3) Ion extraction and interface system; (4)
Quadrupole mass filter; (5) ETP dual stage discrete dynode detector;
(6) Computer controlled and compatible electrochemical vaporization
system with autosampler for multielement analysis of 5 or more
microliters of water and solids; (7) Computer controlled and compatible
flow injection atomic spectroscopy (FIAS) system for flow injection
microsampling, vapor generation, dilution and preconcentration. System
shall also include IBM compatible, Pentium 90 MHZ computer operable
under multitasking operating system such as Windows NT, with the
following features: 24 Mb RAM, 1.0 Gb hard drive, double speed CD-ROM
drive, tape back up system, 16-bit sound card, 3.5 1.4 MB floppy disk
drive, 1 parallel interface and 2 RS-232C interfaces, high resolution
21 SVGA color graphics monitor, and HP Laser Jet 4 or equal printer.
System software shall be capable of: automated optimization and
instrument tuning; full report generation allowing total user
formatting and creation of format templates; comprehensive graphics
allowing real time review of data, display of transient and continuous
signal profiles and spectral profiles in real time, and overlaid,
added, subtracted and ratioed; quantitative analysis including external
calibration, method of additions, isotope ratios and isotope dilutions;
retaining all raw data on HD. More detailed specifications will be
provided in the RFP, which interested parties should request in writing
within 15 days of publication of this announcement. Award subject to
availability of funds. All responsible sources may submit a proposal
which will be considered. (0184) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0459 19950705\66-0001.SOL)
