66 -- CRYOGENIC SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNET SYSTEM SOL 52SBNB5C8796 DUE 081895 POC Marsha Rodgers (301) 975-6398 The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for a cryogenic superconducting magnet system for a low temperature scanning tunneling microscope (STM). Specifically the system will consist of a fully integrated and automated cryogenic system consisting of: 1) a super insulated liquid Helium cryostat operating down to 2.2 K, 2) two superconducting magnets, one oriented vertically with a minimum magnet bore of 100 mm that must supply a maximum field of 8 Tesla at 4.2 K and 10 Tesla at 2.2 K, and the second spit pair magnet oriented horizontally supplying a maximum field of 1.5 Tesla at 4.2 K, 3) a lambda point refrigerator capable of cooling the magnets to 2.2 K, 4) a He exchange gas vessel that will contain a NIST constructed ultra-high vaxuum STM insert. -- F.O.B.
