The format of the COTS in the Fleet workshop series will consist of two parts. Part I is the Navy's opportunity to speak directly to Industry on Navy fleet requirements, concerns and lessons learned. Part II will be industry's opportunity to respond to Navy's requirements as presented in Part I by offering potential approaches to solving COTS long-term life-cycle problems. The workshop scheduled for 8 August will be driven from the Navy's point of view. Industry will have an opportunity to respond in Part II of the workshop series to be held in October. Before this follow-up workshop, abstracts will be solicited from all attendees of the Part I meeting. Selection by the work shop panel of presenters will be based on criteria, goals and objectives to be outlined in a subsequent ``call-for-papers''.
