Administration (FCA) is seeking a contract to provide hardware and
software maintenance support for the FCA Computer Center, nationwide
network system, desktop and laptop PC systems, and other ADP equipment.
The Contractor shall provide hardware maintenance services as specified
in the Statement of Work (SOW) for the VAX cluster consisting of one
VAX 6420, a MicroVAX, several RA70 and RA90 Disk Drives and a variety
of other related peripheral equipment, PCs, laptops, and printers. In
addition to the McLean central site, there are FCA Field Offices with
equipment located in: 1) Atlanta, GA; 2) Denver, CO; 3) Dallas, TX; 4)
Sacramento, CA; 5) St. Louis, MO; and, 6) Bloomington, MN. Services
shall include contractor-owned test equipment, repair and/or
replacement parts, and other items necessary for maintenance of the
24-hour, 7-day operational systems. Maintenance shall be performed at
the module level, thus requiring that an extensive and immediately
available spare parts stock be maintained by the Contractor. No field
repairs will be permitted on individual circuit or board modules. Any
modules supplied as replacements shall be new or be repaired and tested
under original factory assembly conditions. The Contractor must have
the capability to repair all of the maintained computer and network
equipment at the FCA site(s) and will not be allowed to remove
equipment or transport it to another location for repair, except for
reasons as described in the solicitation. The Contractor must also have
the technical resources and ability to diagnose and correct complicated
or intermittent problems involving the computers and LAN/WAN as a whole
and/or as a member of a complex computer network system. The Principal
Period of Maintenance shall be from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, local time,
Monday through Friday, excluding Federal Holidays. All equipment must
be repaired at the FCA site, if practicable. If equipment must be
removed for repair, the removal and safe return of the repaired
equipment is the responsibility of the contractor. The contractor shall
provide for the oversight and quality control of all service at all
locations to assure delivery of services to comply with the
requirements of the contract. These services shall include, but not be
limited to: 1. Toll free telephone suppoort to resolve minor problems
and reduce or eliminate unnecessary service calls, and aid the
contractor in identification of the types of repair parts needed to be
taken to the FCA site; 2. A toll free telephone number to log repair
calls; and 3. Diagnosis and repair of hardware listed in the
solicitation document. The solicitation package will be available on or
about 15 days after the date of this publication. All responsible
sources may submit an offer which will be considered. All requests for
the solicitation package shall be in writing. NO TELEPHONE OR
