US Army ARDEC, AMSTA-AR-PCW-B, Building10, Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey 07806-5000

13 -- 13-SOURCES SOUGHT FOR ADDITIONAL QUANTITIES ON THE LRIP AND INTEGRATION OF AT LENS ASSEMBLY, AP BODY ASSEMBLY, BPRM AND MFG AND INTEGRATION OF THE HED BATTERY INTO THE M87A1 VOLCANO CANISTER DUE 080495 POC Shelley Czapkewicz, Contract Specialist, email=sczapkew, 201-724-5969, Daniel Grinter, Contracting Officer, 201-724-6631 ''No e-mail requests for solicitations will be honored. All requests must be in writing.''. The US Army ARDEC, Picatinny Arsenal seeks sources for the production and integration of the redesigned Antitank (AT) Lens Assembly, Antipersonnel (AP) Body Assembly and the Borerider Pin Release Mechanism (BPRM) into the M87A1 VOLCANO Canister Assembly. This requirement also includes the manufacture of the HED Battery. This requirement is for an estimated 8500 additional quantities with an anticipated award date of GFY96. The AP Body Assembly consists of two separated halves: A sensor module and an electonic module. The electronic module performs functions such as arming delay, self destruct time encoding and LVD detection of fire pulse generation. The sensor module provides safe separation timing, tripline detection and firing circuits. The AT Lens Assembly consists of a gate array with an embedded algorithm, two (vertical and horizontal) magnetic sensors, integrated fuse, power supply with two HED batteries, op-amp and a discrete electronic components. In order to assure safety, the lens contains two redundant timing chains which are constantly cross-checked by the gate array for frequency drift. The lens also contains redundant decoding of the integrated fuse to assure proper self-destruct setting in the mine. BPRM is a mechanical device which interlocks with the safe and arming device. The BPRM will replace existing pyrotechnic Borerider Timer. Both mines (AT & AP) will be packaged together in the M87A1 Canister. Also needed is the manufacture of the HED battery which powers the electonics and sensors. Interested sources are requested to submit information in accordance with Numbered Note 25. Specifically, sources should submit information to at least demonstrate the following: a) capability and experience in integrating mines and other components into canister, b0 R&D and production capabilities to include: dual axis magnetic sensors, laser trimming process, surface mount technology, testing, development, documentation, and working with preliminary TDP, c) facility and equipment capability to include: qualified solders MIL-Q-9858, d) expertise in trouble shooting, failure analysis and corrective action, e) capability in handling, assembly, storage, and safety of explosives, f) secret clearance. This is not a Request for Proposals and is not to be construed as a commitment by the US Army. See Numbered Note 25. (0206)
