modernize two 4-plex and one duplex resi- dential buildings located in
Kotzebue, Alaska. The Scope of Work for the 4-plex includes but is not
limited to, demolition of the existing arctic entrances, remove
existing boilers, remove and re- place 500 gallon above ground fuel
tanks, construction of new en- trances and mechanical rooms. Work on
duplex includes installing new carpet and structural repairs. Magnitude
of construction is between $100,000 and $250,000. The solicitation will
issued o/a 8/15/95 and scheduled bid opening is 9/15/95. For minority,
women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises only: The DOT
Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization has programs to
assist minority, women-owned, and disadvantaged business enterprises
to acquire short term working capital and bonding assistance for
transportation related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible
prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program
enables firms to apply for bid, performance, and payment bonds up to $1
million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond
amount to a surety against losses. Loans are available under the DOT
Short Term Lending Program at prime interest rates to provide accounts
receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000. For more
