(510) 423-3139. Announcement: The Lawrence Livermore National
Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the University of California under
contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking U.S.
companies interested in participatin in government or corporate
sponsored cooperative research and development projects to
commercialize LLNL technologies for health care applications. The core
competencies of the LLNL Center for Health Care Technologies are in
system integration and prototyping, laser systems, X-ray systems,
computations and modeling, microfabrication, sensors and information
processing, chemistry and material science, biomedical and forensic
sciences. The goal of the Center is to apply LLNL technologies,
expertise, and capabilities to health care problems of national
significance, with an emphasis on improving health care through
development of cost-effective technologies. The Department of Energy or
other federal agencies may provide funding to LLNL to work on specific
problems in collaboration with companies with matching corporate
investments. In such instances, partner companies would fund their own
efforts in the collaboration. Partner companies may also fund LLNL
directly. Partner companies will have the opportunity to negotiate a
license to LLNL technologies during or at the conclusion of the
project. All projects are conducted under policies relating to the
strict nondisclosure of company proprietary information. If you are
interested in partnership with LLNL to develop and commerialize
technologies for health care applications, please respond in writing
within 60 days of this announcement by providing background information
about this company (i.e., products or services, relevant facilities,
number and type of employees, annual sales); your specific area of
interest and desired outcome; and your anticipated corporate investment
in the development and commercialization of any resulting technologies.
