COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 9,1995 PSA#1406United Defense LP, Armament Systems Division, 4800 E. River Rd.,
Minneapolis, MN 59 -- POSITION SENSOR TO BE USED ON A 155MM REGENERATIVE LIQUID
PROPELLANT GUN (RLPG) Contact, George Desmarais, 413/494-3881. POC
George W. Desmarais, Program Manager-CRUSADER and LP Technical
Subcontracts, (413)494-3881. Lockheed Martin Defense Systems, a
subcontractor to United Defense-LP under Prime Contract
DAAE30-95-C-0009, is seeking a position sensor to be used on the 155mm
Regenerative Liquid Propellant Gun (RLPG)(planned as the primary
armament for the CRUSADER Artillery System) and is soliciting vendors
with position sensors capable of the following specifications: 1.) The
need exists for a position sensor capable of measuring 10.500 inches
of linear motion with the accuracy of 0.005 inch over its entire range.
The sensor shall be capable of static measurement of position as well
as dynamic measurement of position at velocities up to 1300
inches/second. Position measurement shall be repeatable within .005
inch. 2.) The sensor shall be capable of accurate operation with up to
50 G's of acceleration and deceleration perpendicular to its
measurement axis. Portions of the sensor attached to a fixed reference
point shall be capable of accurate operation with up to 200 G's of
acceleration and deceleration along its measurement axis. Any movable
portion of the sensor, which is physically attached to the dynamic
position measurement point, shall be capable of accurate operation with
up to 2000 G's for 3 mSec of acceleration and deceleration along its
measurement axis. 3.) The sensor shall be capable of operation through
a temperature range of 7 degrees C to 41 degrees C without degradation
of other performance specifications. The sensor shall be capable of a
storage temperature range of minus 35 degrees C to 55 degrees C without
degradation of other performance specifications when returned to the
operating temperature. 4.) Any external conditioning electronics must
be capable of being located at least 30 feet away. 5.) The fixed
portion of the sensor shall be 2 inches or less in diameter and 13.7
inches or less in length. Access to the monitored position is through
a .375 inch hole with two possible depth ranges. Depth range one is
0.375 to 10.875 inches. Depth range two is 6.750 to 17.250 inches.
Subcontractors can submit capability statements (in subcontractor
format) which should address technical capabilities of their
organization, including background, facilities capabilities and
personnel expertise associated with the above described specifications.
Subcontractor/Supplier submissions must be received no later than
thirty (30) calendar days after the publication of this notice and
should be submitted via US Mail (or express mail) to Lockheed Martin
Defense Systems, 100 Plastics Avenue, Pittsfield, MA 01201, Attention:
G.W. Desmarais, Room 2266. Information may not be submitted via
facsimile. Subcontractors who capability statements are judged to meet
the specifications described in this announcement will be placed on a
bidder's list and provides an opportunity to compete for this
opportunity. Neither the cost of preparing capability statements nor
the cost of preparing proposals will be entertained as allowable direct
charges to any resultant subcontract. See Note 25. (219) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0330 19950808\59-0001.SOL)
