65 -- THERMOLUMINESCENCE DOSIMETRY (TLD) READER SOL RFQ 645-05-96 DUE 090195 POC Contact Point, Linda White, (412)365-5436, Contracting Officer, Linda White, (412)365-5436 The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center intends to negotiate with only one source, Harshaw Bicron, 6801 Cochran Road, Solon, OH 44139, under FAR 6.302-1, for a Model 550 Automated Thermoluminescence Dosimetry (TLD) Reader and accessories. This reader will be used in a Radiation Therapy Department for measurement of absorbed radiation dose by use of TLD chips, rods, or micro-cubes. The instrument includes an automatic sample changer and removable TLD-element carrier disk for processing up to 50 TLD elements in one loading; a nitrogen gas based linear, programmable heating system; and a cooled photomultiplier tube with associated data acquisition circuits for reading out the light emitted by the TLD chip. In addition to the Model 5500 TLD Reader, the following accessories will be purchased: extra carrier disks, ACM software, 486 personal computer, dot matrix printer, N2 gas flow meter, low temperature annealing oven, high temperature annealing furnace, vacuum tweezers, dosimeter storage case, annealer base, holding tray, quench block, and TLD-100 ribbon. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within fifteen (15) days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Award is subject to the availability of FY 1996 funds. (0226)
