The Metropolitan Detention Center, Los Angeles, intends to procure the installation and optimization of an ASTRO Digital Narrowband - Advanced Conventional Radio System on a sole-source basis from Motorola Corporation. The installation involves ``proprietary'' information and system software that is unavailable to non-Motorola authorized installation companies. Under the new simplified acquisition procedures, a Request for Quotation (RFQ) will be issued for the installation. The date for receipt of quotations will be on or about September 11, 1995.
