notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6.
G/TBT/NOTIF.95.239. 1. Member to Agreement notifying: Singapore. If
applicable, name of local government involved (Articles 3.2 and 7.2):
2. Agency responsible: Ministry of the Environment. 3. Notified under
Article 2.9.2. 4. Products covered (HS or CCCN where applicable,
otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers may be provided in
addition, where applicable): All motor vehicles. 5. Title and number of
pages of the notified document: Noise Emission Standards for
Registration of Motor Vehicles. 6. Description of content: All vehicles
which are to be registered in Singapore from 1 January 1996 shall
comply with the following noise emission limits: Motorcycles: 99 dBA;
Cars: 103 dBA; Light goods vehicles: 103dBA; Heavy goods vehicles
including buses (less than = 10,000 cc): 105 dBA; Heavy goods vehicles
including buses (greater than = 10,000 cc): 107dBA. Note: Noise
measurements are carried out at 0.5 metres away from the vehicles. 7.
Objective and rationale: Protection of human health. 8. Relevant
documents: Basic legislation: The Road Traffic Act (Chapter 276). 9.
Proposed date of adoption and entry into force: 1 January 1996. 10.
