66 -- X-RAY FLUORESCENCE ANALYZER SYSTEM FOR FLOW CELL CHAMBER ANALYSIS POC NASA Langley Research Center, MS 144, Industry Assistance Office, Hampton, Va. 23681-0001. In order that potential sources may learn of the interest in a specific requirement, an advanced notice is published here. Langley Research Center has components of a Tracor X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometer System that are capable of being used in a research project to compare elemental sensitivities in both a batch and flow cell configuration. These components consist of a 386 IBM computer with PS/2 interface, a pulse processor with time variant shaping network and computer selected count rate range, an analog to digital converter with 4096 addresses, 100 mHz clock and automated energy calibration, a data memory with 2048 data channels and 16 million counts/channel and an interchangeable flow cell chamber fitting a Tracor-6000 spectrometer. To complete the spectrometer system an analyzer system is sought that has a 20 mm2 Si (Li) solid state detector, thermoelectrically cooled with a 0.5 mil Be window with a minimum of 185 ev FWHM resolution for 5.9 Kev X-rays at 3000 counts/sec and a X-ray excitation tube, 50 kV, 0.35 ma, Rh target, side window Bremsstrahlung, air cooled with power supply. The Analysis chamber is to be 1.6 in. x 6.7 in. set up for simple batch analysis but is removable and be able to interchange with flow cell chamber. Firms having the capabilities necessary to meet the above requirement are invited to submit sales literature addressing these capabilities. Quotation is to include installation and training.
