COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 22,1995 PSA#1437ROME LABORATORY, 26 ELECTRONIC PKY, GRIFFISS AFB NY 13441-4514 70 -- WORKFLOW ENGINE SOFTWARE POC JOETTA A. BERNHARD, CONTRACTING
OFFICER, 315-330-2308; ELLIOT CHIKOFSKY, SBA Program Office - Technical
Architecture, 315-330-1479. 17. WORKFLOW ENGINE SOFTWARE. Sources are
sought for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) workflow engine products
that are candidates to support Rome Laboratorys creation of an
application environment for its business functions. The application of
interest is a client/server workflow engine that can be used in
server-mode backgroud processing to direct and track the process of
work through steps in defined workflows. Interaction with the engine
will be performed by calls through its application programming
interface (API) from various front-end tools and applications of the
environment. The workflow engine on a server machine must be able to
operate independent of a specific user interface or operating system on
a client machine of the user. The workflow engine must use a sharable
database for storing workflow definitions and holding the state of
workflow instances, and a COTS database is preferred. A workflow
definition facility must support the creation and editing of workflow
paths, both graphical and text forms are desired. Utilities of the
workflow engine must provide operational, maintenance, and reporting
support. Utilities to assist the creation of clients for end-user
applications in conjunction with the workflow engine re also sought,
but such utilities must be separable from the engine itself. The
anticipated operating environment for the workflow engine is a
Unix-based server in a three-tier client/server architecture.
Operations on a Windows NT server will be considered. An
enterprise-wide collection of Windows, Macintosh and Unix clients will
be used in the application environment. Potential sources shall send
three (3) copies of general marketing literature and an application
programming interface (API) description for review, including copies of
applicable GSA Schedule or similar acquisition arrangements for U.S.
Government agencies. Personnel from DMR Group Inc. will be reviewing
the literature along with Government personnel. If any submitter
objects to having DMR Group, Inc. read their replies, the submitter
should so state in their letter of transmittal. Rome Laboratory
personnel will then solely review the literature. Note hat this request
is an identification of potential sources sought. No commitment of any
kind is made or implied by this request. Send replies with literature
to: Rome Laboratory/C3C, SBA Program Office, ATTN: Technical
Architecture, 525 Brooks Road, Room 2513, Griffiss AFB NY 13441-4505.
Written replies by mail or fax (315-330-3807), telephone calls for
clarification will be accepted by the POC listed above but replies must
be in writing. Replies are due 20 days from the date of publication of
this notice. (0263) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0207 19950921\70-0002.SOL)
