The U.S. Army, ARDEC is seeking information and potential sources to procure off-the-shelf, non-developmental ammunition for test and evaluation. There is potential for adoption and production for armed services use. The ammunition is desired to interface with standard issue M16A2 and M4/M4A1 rifles and it may be either as an in-bore 5.56mm cartridge or externally applied such as a muzzle launched device. The objective is to obtain a system that significantly enhances the capability to enforce a standoff distance from belligerents without using deadly force. The required terminal effect is rapid non-lethal incapacitation at short (-50m) ranges. Systems that produce lethal effects at point blank ranges will not be automatically disqualified. This requirement is to support Military Operations Other Than War (MOOTW). Interested firms should submit literature/brochures not exceeding ten (10) pages describing their technical capabilities, compatibility with M16, M4, etc. in response to the aforementioned criteria.
