The Navy intends to award a sole-source contract to California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA, for scientific atmospheric research and technical services. The contract will provide for ongoing research utilizing the CHIRON and other specialized remotely piloted research aircraft to conduct atmospheric science missions for the Naval Postgraduate School. Justification and authority is FAR 6.302-3, engineering, developmental, or research capability to be provided by an educational or other nonprofit institution.
