The U.S. Army Missile Command is preparing to issue the formal solicitation for the Soldier's Portable On-system Repair Tool (SPORT). The procurement was previously issued as Draft Request for Proposal (RFP) DAAH01-95-R-0041. Firms that received the Draft RFP will automatically be sent a copy of the formal RFP. The SPORT is a state-of-the-art on-system tester designed to augment the built-in-test/built-in test-equipment of various weapon systems within the Army. The hardware includes a portable lightweight controller/diagnostic aid (CDA) capable of making voltage, current, and resistance measurements, provide a 1553B interface, and be capable of controlling an external instrumentation expansion chassis (IEC). The IEC shall be of a standard architecture and shall house commercially available instrumentation boards. We plan to buy up to 10,000 each CDA's; and up to 2,500 each IEC's; up to 10,000 each Digital Multimeter cards; up to 10,000 each 1553B Data Bus cards; up to 2,500 Oscilloscope ISA cards, Modem PC cards, Ethernet PC cards, and Hard Disk PC cards; and up to 100,000 Engineering Services Manhours over a five-year period, subject to indefinite quantity provisions. There are options for Training, Commercial Drawings, and an Extended Warranty. This procurement will be full and open competition.
