COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 20,1995 PSA#1456Kennedy Space Center, FL 32899 J -- DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF 30,000 GALLON LIQUID HELIUM STORAGE
DEWARS POC Robert Lock, BOC-110, EG&G Florida, Inc., 407-867-7842. EG&G
Florida, Inc. is seeking sources to design and fabricate two (2) 30,000
gallon liquid helium storage dewars. These dewars will be required to
support launch operations at Kennedy Space Center, Fl. The minimum
liquid helium capacity shall be 30,000 gallons with a 10% ullage for a
total cold volume of 33,000 gallons. The maximum allowable working
pressure (MAWP) shall not be less than 70 psig. A internal vaporizer
shall be provided for a 63 psig ullage pressure at 75 gallon per minute
flow rate of liquid helium. The normal vaporization rate shall not be
more than 0.40% per day based on 30,000 gallon capacity and 85 degree
F average ambient temperature. The tank insulation shall be designed
for a minimum life of 20 years. A minimum of five (5) years experience
will be required to demonstrate the successful operation of an
insulation system design on similar 30,000 gallon liquid helium tanks.
Inner vessel design and fabrication shall be in accordance with ASME
Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division I. Inner vessel
material shall be 300 series stainless steel suitable for a temperature
of -452 degrees F. The dewar shall have lifting lugs for placement and
saddles to support it on a suitable foundation or pad. The dewar
assembly and anchor bolt hole sizing shall meet the requirements for
wind level of 150 MPH. (0291) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0030 19951019\J-0008.SOL)
