J -- HYDRAYLIC COUPLING BOLTS FOR PROPULSION SHAFT COUPLINGS ON USCG POLAR CLASS ICEBREAKERS SOL DTCG85-96-Q-625103 POC Sharon D. Hunter, Contracting Officer (510) 437-3996. Th Unites States Coast Guard Maintenance and Logistics Command Pacific proposes to contract to obtain 24 hydraulic coupling bolts to be used in the propulsion shaft coupling of POLAR CLASS ICEBREAKERS. Bolts shall be furnished with sleeves finish machined at the factory, and all necessary special tools. Sleeve outer diameter for all bolts shall be not less than 3.322 inches nor greater than 3.465 inches. One coupling requires 12 bolts with a nominal clamping length of 12.20 inches; another coupling requires 12 bolts with a nominal clamping length of 10.40 inches. Bolts shall be identical and fully interchangeable between couplings. POLAR CLASS ICEBREAKERS operate with a maximum shaft horsepower of 25,000 HP, maximum shaft speed of 175 RPM, and have a shaft diameter of 26 inches. Each coupling requires 12 bolts. The minimum safety factor required is 9.00. Contractors shall furnish a complete calculation worksheet with the quotation demonstrating that offered bolts meet the required safety factor. Delivery shall be not later than 25 January 1996. The RFQ will be issued 15 days after the date of publication of this notice. All eligible offerors will be considered. (0317)
