AMRAAM SHIPPING AND STORAGE CONTAINERS, The Air-to-Air Joint Systems Program Office is contemplating an Invitation For Bid (IFB) for CNU-431 containers - Specification No. SP8644140 - Dimensions: 174'' X 38'' X 19'', Weight: 617 lbs. and CNU-572 containers - Specification No. SP9531500 - Dimensions: 24'' X 16'' X 18'', Weight: 51 lbs. This acquisition will consist of 125 CNU-431(V)2/E containers (2 preproduction, 123 production), 153 FMS CNU-431/E containers, 250 CNU-572/E containers (2 preproduction, 248 production), and 51 FMS CNU-572/E containers. Nine variable quantity options will be for 5 to 30 FMS CNU-431(V)1/E containers with 5 being most probable, 125 to 160 CNU-431(V)2/E containers with 125 being most probable, 150 to 200 CNU-431(V)3/E containers with 175 being most probable, 180 to 250 FMS CNU-431/E containers with 210 being most probable, 5 to 30 FMS CNU-431(V)1/E containers with 5 being most probable, 5 to 25 FMS CNU-572/E containers with 5 being most probable, 150 to 300 CNU-572/E containers with 250 being most probable, 75 to 150 CNU-572/E containers with 125 being most probable, and 5 to 50 FMS CNU-572/E containers with 10 being most probable. Required delivery of CNU-431 and CNU-572 pre-production containers is 31 Oct 96 and 31 Jul 96, respectively. Production delivery of CNU-431 and CNU-572 containers shall begin 31 Dec 96 and 31 Aug 96, respectively. Delivery of containers will be to Tucson AZ, Chambersburg PA, Inglewood CA, and operational sites to be determined. The containers are all aluminum with non-explosive polyethylene cushions. They are fabricated from double-wall aluminum extrusions which serve as the sides and ends of the container. The bottom portion of the CNU-431 container is sheet aluminum, welded to a skid section which provides for forklift entry. The containers are sealed with a silicon ''O'' ring gasket. Pressure relief valve and humidity indicators are included. The top and bottom are held together with special latches. The CNU-431(V)2/E and CNU-431(V)3/E container design include adding an internal electrical cable to interface with the missiles through the desiccant port. Specification and drawing packages for the container and cable will be a part of the IFB. Responses to this synopsis must be received within 30 days from date of publication. This acquisition is a consolidation of requirements that were previously synopsized on 27 Jun 95 and 12 Jul 95. This synopsis is for planning purposes only and shall not be considered an IFB or a RFP and is not to be considered a commitment by the government.
