Provide all labor, material and equipment necessary for the Drydocking
Repairs to the USCGC SMILAX and BARGE. Work for these Drydocking
repairs is to be performed at the contractor's facility. Competition
for the subject availability is geographically restricted to the
protected waters from Tampa, Florida to Philadelphia, Pennsylvannia,
via the Intra Coastal Waterway. The work which may be performed
includes but may not be limited to the following minimum items: 1.
Overhaul, Renew, and Test Valves 2. Renew Bridge Plating Insulation and
Air Condition Unit 3. Preserve Freeboard on Barge 4. Renew Sheathing
and Insulation in Engine Room and Fidley 5. Overhaul Ship Service
Generators 6. Renew Bulkhead Hull Plating and Preserve Bilges in Engine
Room 7. Clean and Inspect Diesel Fuel Tanks 8. Clean, Inspect, and
Disenfect Potable Water tank(s) 9. Inspect and Overhaul Sea Strainers
10. Remove, Inspect, Reinstall propeller Shaft. The proposed contract
will also contain indefinte items including, but not limited to: 1.
Welding Repairs 2. Preserve Underwater Body 3. Preserve Potable Water
Tank(s) 4. Ultrasonic Testing 5. Minor Repair and Recondition
propeller(s) 6. Straighten Propulsion Shaft(s) 7. Renew Waster
Pieces--USCGC Smilax's homepier is Brunswick, Georgia--Vessel is
100feet in length--Barge is 70 Feet in length--USCGC Smilax's
Availability Schedule is 04 March 1996--There will be a non-refundable
charge required in the form of a certified check or momey order made
payable to the U.S. Coast Guard in the amount of $100.00 for requested
drawings and publications--The proposed contract listed here is open
to both large and small business--Plans and specifications will be
issued on or after 22 December 1995--All responsible sources may submit
a bid which shall be considered by the United States Coast Guard. For
Minority, women-owned and Disadvantage Business Enterprises: the
Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged
Business Utilization has programs to assist minority, women-owned and
disadvantaged business enterprises to aquire short-term workingcapital
and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. Loans are
available under DOT Short Term Lending program (STLP) at prime interest
rates up to $500,000 per contract to provide account receivable
financing. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply
for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $500,000 per contract. DOT
provides an 80 percent guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against
