Officer, KELLY, LINDA, (612)725-2183, Additional Contact, AGRIMSON,
DANIEL, (612)725-2178 Under Statutory Authority 41 USC 253(c)(1) the VA
Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN is entering into sole source
negotiations with Pyxis Corporation of San Diego, CA for a Computer
Automated Unit Dose Drug Distribution system. The VA is currently using
the Pyxis 1000 Medstation on one ward and will upgrade that system to
a Pyxis 1000-RX and will expand system usage to sixteen additional
wards. After reviewing various manufacturers systems in response to
June 1995 CBD for sources sought, it is believed that only the Pyxis
Medstation-RX System can meet the VA's minimum requirements which
include the following: provide a computer operated unit dose RX system
that will provide single dose dispensing so that due to security
reasons only one medication will be accessible at a time; provide a
documentation system for charting medications; system must have the
ability to integrate with the VA's DHCP computer system for patient
profile and ADT; provide computerized inventory accountability. See
