A -- HANDHELD STANDOFF MINE DETECTION SYSTEM (HSTAMIDS) REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL SOL DAAB12-96-R-0001 DUE 120895 POC Contact Point, Patricia Davis, (703)704-2161, Contracting Officer, Peggy Melanson, (703)704-2168 A Draft Request for Proposal (DRFP) DAAB12-95-R-0031 for the Handheld Stand-off Mine Detection System was advertised in the CBD on 20 June 1995. The DRFP will not be issued. It is now the intent of the USACECOM, C4IEW Acquisition Center, Ground Support Branch to issue a Request for Proposal, DAAB12-96-R-0001 for research and development of a Handheld Standoff Mine Detection System (HSTAMIDS) on or about 1 December 1995. The HSTAMIDS is primarily expected to be based on the technology of active and passive sensing techniques. The handheld mine detector must be capable of detecting non-metalllic and metallic mines ranging in diameter from 2 to 15 inches and at depths flush with the soil surface to 6 inches deep (to the top of the mine) in a variety of soils. Soils may contain significant metallic debris. It is expected that the Request for Proposal will result in two contract awards for Demonstration/Validation of the HSTAMIDS. Ten (10) systems will be purchased under each contract. In addition, contracts will include support services for one (1) month of Government testing. NO TELEPHONE REQUESTS WILL BE TAKEN.
